We collect the following information: (a) Account data: your email address and chosen native language when you register. (b) Usage data: sentences completed, exam scores, XP earned, and daily usage counts. (c) Guest data: a device fingerprint (UUID stored in localStorage) and IP address for limiting free usage. We do not collect financial data — payments are handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy.
Your data is used to: provide and improve the learning experience, track your progress and XP, enforce usage limits for free accounts, and send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset). We do not sell your data to third parties.
All data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) hosted in the EU (eu-west-3). We enforce Row Level Security (RLS) on all tables — you can only access your own data. Passwords are hashed by Supabase Auth and never stored in plain text.
We use Supabase authentication cookies to maintain your session. We also use localStorage to store your language preference, display preferences (ghost text, translation toggle), and guest usage count. No advertising cookies or third-party trackers are used.
We use the following third-party services: Supabase (database and authentication), Lemon Squeezy (payment processing, as Merchant of Record), Vercel (frontend hosting). Each service has its own privacy policy.
You have the right to: access your personal data, correct inaccurate data (via Settings), request deletion of your account and data, and export your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@wordsalchemy.com.
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
WordsAlchemy is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
